What Estelle Getty Meant To Me

You know how groups of women would try to identify who which Sex and the City character they would be? Not my friends and I. We always tried to figure out what Golden Girls character we would be. For some reason my friends said that I was Dorothy, which fucking blew, but I always wanted to be Sophia because she was hilarious and spunky and I imagine an incredibly strong woman due to her ability to give birth to the hulking Dorothy Zbornak (seriously I'm not that big).

Growing up I would watch this show in the afternoons with my mom as a part of a programming block that also included Empty Nest and Designing Women and whenever The Golden Girls theme song she would sing it to me and it always made me happy.

So I am going to tip my hat and pour out a little liquor to my favorite Golden Girl who will always live on in the hearts of those who lived through the mid-to-late 80's.

Photo of the Day -- How You Doin'?

Congrats to the Boston Celtics for winning the NBA Championship last night. Thank God they did or my boyfriend may have committed seppuku all over my white Jennifer Convertibles love-seat.

Hey!

A Woman After My Own Heart

This woman is awesome. After almost two weeks in a deep coma, as her grieving husband decides to remove her from life support, she utters the words: "Get me out of here.” Then she added another request: “Take me to Ted’s and take me to the Melting Pot.”

Ted's and the Melting Pot are two Mexican restaurants.

Now I am usually hella hungry when I wake up in the morning so I totally don't blame homegirl for having the munchies after being asleep for days on end.

Here she is on the today show this morning:

Video of The Day

Slow news day people ( I refuse to post about Brit Brit).

Here is a classic for all you children of the '80s. I wonder why no one has sampled the beat from the theme song (Kanye I'm talking to you).

SNAP!!!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of viewing the upcoming horror/comedy film Teeth. Some of you may had heard of this film before. If not, the basic plot summary is as follows: young, nubile, blond virgin discoverers that she has teeth in her vajay jay (yep) and hijinks ensue. The film is a satirical look at Vagina Dentata myth that is prevalent in a number of cultures.

Overall the film was enjoyable but I will warn you that the film is a bit graphic. Two words: Severed, Penises. Yep that's right, so guys be forewarned. Anyway check out the trailer and go see it when it comes out on January 18th.

He's back....

You may remember Andre J. from last week's "It Girl" post. For some reason I have always assumed that Andre would have a crazy deep Barry White voice. Oh was I wrong.

I wonder where he gets his hair done? He weave game could put many people to shame (Beyonce take note)

Update: Seems like Beyonce was inspired by a certain someone at Saturday's Movies Rock Event.

It Girl Of The Day

Feast your eyes on the fabulosity that is Andre J. He has received tons of press recently due to recent cover of French Vogue and a New York Times feature this past Sunday. Here is my favorite quote from the piece:

“I’m just expressing myself and not hurting anyone and taking myself to a place where I want to be, a place where the world is beautiful”

Gotta love the positive attitude. That bitch is FIERCE

He does a party each Tuesday at Lotus. Claire over at The Fashion Bomb recently attended a party that Andre J. threw in NYC. Check out pics here.
He does a party every Tuesday night at Louts. Me thinks I may have to check it out this week.

UPDATE : Jezebel has a pretty lively forum discussing Andre J. with the conversation covering topics such as racism, homophobia and the fashion industry. You can read here. What do you think?
